Victoria Warfield started her piano studies locally with Sherron Highsted-Berge and Audrey Mallinson (herself a student of Rudolf Serkin). At the age of sixteen, she completed the ARCT – Piano Performer degree with First Class Honours. She went on to UBC on scholarship and studied with Glen Geary and Dr. Dale Reubart. Over the years, she has continued her studies with such world-class artists as Anton Kuerti, Elyakim Taussig, John Ogdon, Harold Zabrack, and Mark Westcott.
Miss Warfield has given recitals throughout western Canada and the United States as a soloist and chamber performer. She has directed several choirs. In addition, she has been active in musical theatre as a musical director, producer, and composer/arranger. Participating at all levels of music competitions, Miss Warfield has acted as an adjudicator, as well as a co-ordinator of music festivals in B.C. She is past president of the Clef Society of Burnaby.
Known as “Miss Vicki” to her students, she has always been in demand as piano teacher. Her students have consistently maintained a keen interest in making beautiful music. Many have achieved high honours in the Royal Conservatory of Toronto examinations and received high awards in national and local music competitions. Her students range in ability from beginner to performer, and in age from pre-schoolers to seniors. Her teaching style is a fusion of European and North American influences and methods, with a strong emphasis on note reading and music appreciation.
